Whether you are trying to capture the Milky Way or star trails the Rangeley region offers great opportunities for night sky photography!


Photography of the Milky Way and star trails are  best scheduled around the new moon to avoid the sky being washed out by the light of the moon. Dates of the new moon in 2016 are as follows and night sky workshops are scheduled around those times:

June 5, July 4, August 2, September 1 and October 1

Here is a list of recommended equipment and items for a night sky workshop:

Digital SLR with live view function

Wide angle lens with an aperture of f/4 or f/2.8

Intervalometer or a cable release you can lock

Tripod

A headlamp with a red light (Petzl makes these)

A small flashlight with an LED bulb for lightpainting

Appropiate clothing (warm footwear, insulating and windbreaking layers, hat and gloves)

If you have any questions about what to bring please do not hesitate to contact me. Water. coffee and snacks will be provided.  We may stay all out night depending on whether or not people want to. 

Rates for night sky workshops:

$375.00 per person

No refunds within 30 days of tour date. A rebooking credit with no expiration date will be issued for the full amount of the tour. No refunds in the event of a cancellation due to weather before or during the tour.
